Stealth digital watch
A digital watches designed with an attention to clean architectural lines. The design inspirations include the classic Casio G-shock, Daft Punk’s futuristic aesthetic, high end Ventura SPARC watch, raw functional architecture, and the japanese industrial designer Tokujin Yoshioka.Form searching
The project started as homage to the Japanese classic. Several options were based on the proportions of the G-shock. After simplifying the shape, we got slowly created new forms that appealed to our initial concept, yet departed from the original.
Development
After going through several stages of prototyping, the process moved from simple FDM prints to SLS print, to a precise CNC-milled prototype, to the eventual stainless steel samples.
Prototyping
Plating color and finish were tested on these factory-made samples.
Digital module
A digital module was developed specially for our case size. The display graphics for numbers and letters were also specially designed to match the minimal design aesthetic.
Form and fucntionality
Clean form for the case, and all flat faces. The face had much depth when looking at the watch from the front. Pushers are hidden under negative surface.
PVD
Several options for gunmetal, and blue tones were tested during the CMF process.
Renderings
3D renderings helped to present ideas and make sure we are on the right track to create the emotional connection.
Selection
The final color selection was suppose to supplement the brand’s shoe collection. Selects were carefully chosen to complement the styles in a balanced way.
Colorways
Basic colorways reflected several mesh surfaces, embossed leather and textiles. The strap factory helped to source leathers to match our demand for textured finishes and Pantone colors.
Color themes
Further color schemes were developed to match the target customer. Stories were communicated through catchy collages that reflected and outlined the customers.
Packaging
Several options were designed, a simple box and sleeve with sticker for easy retail handling
Packaging concepts
The compact box version still offered an additional extra strap around the main watch cushion. A flat box showcased the straps.
Advertising shots
Art direction for the photoshoot was to keep it simple, comfortable and active.
Press
As a part of the launch and promotion campaign, the watches were featured in design blogs and communities.
